Ghostly Mardale - The Disappeared Village

There are a number of factual articles on  the internet about Mardale and the Dun Bull Hotel but I tend to wonder about the ghosts who must still be roaming around the reservoir that the area has now become. Surely there must be some really meaty ghost stories from this area - other than the famous ones written in green fronted books, semi tour guide style that are a bit flat and somehow very slightly lacking - like saltless food.
Hallow Bank is roughly about four miles from the village of Staveley and a mile or two from actual Kentmere Village which is a little further down and off to the left of this postcard photo. The larger of the two houses shown in this postcard - the one with the gable on the left - belonged to my late aunt and uncle. In the early 1980's it was converted in to two houses and both are still in the family.

I stayed at Hallow Bank a lot as a child and we would go up to Farmer Dickinson's to get milk which was still warm from the cow. As it was a private area walkers used to ask if they could come through. We also used to stay at Fold Howe which is just behind and not visible on the postcard.

Once whilst staying there during a storm, I saw a ghost bear with huge wings flying though the air.

There is a stream outside the house which was called Emily's stream after a former resident of the area. My aunt's house at one time belonged to the local doctor for the area in olden times.

My uncle said he once came downstairs to find the oven door had come off the Raeburn cooker and was laying on the floor. He could not explain how it got there.
